As the world awaits the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child, The Queen has revealed she hopes the little one arrives soon.
“I would very much like it to arrive, I’m going on holiday,” the 87-year-old monarch told children as she visited Lake Windermere. “No sign yet,” she added.
The Queen, who will become a great-grandmother for the third time, also revealed she doesn’t mind if the royal baby is a girl or a boy.
“I don’t think I mind,” she revealed when questioned by the children.
The Queen has revealed she hopes the Royal Baby will arrive ‘soon’.
The Queen makes an annual trip to Scotland in the summer and is hopeful the baby will arrive before then, Kate is currently thought to be residing at her parents’ house as she waits for the newborn. According to sources, Prince William is by his wife’s side as they wait to welcome the future heir.
It is expected the Duke and Duchess will travel to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, when Kate goes into labour, following in the footsteps of William’s parents.
Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, welcomed both Prince William and Prince Harry at the Lindo Wingo of the hospital. The Princess Royal also gave birth to Peter and Zara Phillips at the hospital.
Over the weekend, the Duchess travelled to her parents’ home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, to relax ahead of the birth. Kate reportedly feels most relaxed at the Bucklebury house.
Will and Kate are awaiting the arrival of their first child.
In recent weeks, the mum-to-be has been putting the final touches to the couple’s new home at Kensington Palace.
After the birth, it is expected the new parents will move into Apartment 1A at the London residence, which is to become their official London base.
