Badar Azim who recently displayed Prince George’s birth announcement on the easel has left the UK.
On the evening Prince George’s birth was announced, his face was spread across the globe but now Badar Azim, the footman who placed the birth announcement on the easel, has left the country. According to a insider, Azim’s visa had run out just days after he placed the announcement on the easel announcing Prince George’s birth along with the Queen’s press secretary Alisa Anderson.
Azim’s family were said to be “immensely proud” as the image of Badar beamed across the globe. He has now returned to his family in Calcutta, India. Badar Azim attended St Mary’s orphanage run by the Congregation of Christian Brothers of Ireland who sponsored him to attend the International Institute of Hotel Management college in Calcutta. He then spent the third year of his hospitality and management degree at Edinburgh’s Napier University. He then got the job as a junior footman at Buckingham Palace in February 2012.
Azim’s sudden departure of the UK is causing lots of reaction. A staff member who worked with him told the Daily Mail “Everyone here is sad that Badar is gone, he was popular and had clearly overcome such a struggle to get to Britain in the first place. He was just finding his feet”. Diane Abbott MP is also disappointed at Azim’s departure writing on Twitter that it was a “sad exit” for the footman.
