The Duke of Cambridge filled in for The Queen today in what is his second ever investiture.
Her Majesty was said to be experiencing some ankle pain and therefore was unable to hold today’s ceremony.
William dressed in his RAF uniform; steadily placed his sword on Blackadder actor Tony Robinson’s shoulder, and granted him his knighthood.
The former ‘Baldrick’ offered William a cameo role if Blackadder makes a comeback.
“He said that he was a big fan of Blackadder and was there going to be another series? I said we have always talked about it,’ Sir Tony commented according to The Daily Mail.
Sir Tony inquired if William would want to be in the series. “Would you be prepared to be in it?” According to Sir Tony, he “said yes like a shot.”
Former Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell was awarded a Companion of Honour by the Duke during today’s ceremony.
According to Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty had not been taken ill but due to the past weekend’s engagements which included Saturday’s Festival of Remembrance and Sunday’s Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph, she was dealing with a spell of ankle pain.
“The Queen is experiencing some mild discomfort with her ankle, following a busy weekend,” stated a spokesman.
Her Majesty will resume her engagements tomorrow and will still being visiting Manchester on Thursday.
When asked who William could play, Sir Tony commented: ‘I think he would have to play himself, don’t you?’
This was William’s second investiture. Last month he bestowed two knighthoods, presented an OBE to tennis star and Gold Medal Olympian, Andy Murray, an OBE to television producer Jon Plowman, a MBE to conservationist Helen Butler and an MBE to presenter Aled Jones.
