Nick Clegg will receive a knighthood from The Queen in the New Years Honours list for his services to politics.
Mr Clegg, who was Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for five years, will be named in the list when it is released later this week according to reports.
Senior Liberal Democrat sources have told the Daily Mail that the former party leader will be knighted next year.
A Liberal Democrat spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on any honours list speculation.”
Mr Clegg will join the ranks of his former colleagues Sir Vince Cable and Sir Ed Davey, who were knighted by The Queen following there service to politics in the 2010-2015 coalition government.
The former Deputy PM lost his seat in the House of Commons at the 2017 General Election when Labour took over control of Sheffield Hallam.
Royal Central will publish the New Years Honours list at 10:30pm on Friday 29th December.
