The summer style trend every royal wants- the espadrille

As the royals of the world are splitting their summer between Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics and their vacation time, almost every royal is going with a trusted favourite- the espadrille.

The Duchess of Edinburgh is back in the United Kingdom after a trip to Paris and chose her favourite Jimmy Choo espadrilles for a special performance of Starlight Express at Wembley Park Theatre in London. While she was in Paris, she wore her white Toms espadrilles to an event with TeamGB’s triathlon athletes and her Penelope Chilvers leather espadrilles to watch track cycling.

Both Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia have grabbed their espadrilles while on vacation with their family. Leonor chose her Mint and Rose canvas espadrille wedges and Sofia grabbed her Polin et Moi leather espadrilles. Princess Leonor will often wear her black Calzado Spicon wedges to engagements.

While she was in Paris, Queen Mathilde of Belgium turned to her Castaner suede wedges.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden favours her Valentino calfskin espadrilles, as does Princess Madeleine.

The Princess of Wales has often worn espadrilles throughout her time as a working royal; in recent years, she has chosen her Castaner wedge espadrilles frequently.
