King Juan Carlos I of Spain was once so popular that his approval ratings were the envy of royal Europe. Now, he is spending summer in exile after leaving the country he once ruled under a cloud as allegations about his financial affairs continued. His departure has caused anger and led to questions of where he is – and whether he will ever return.
