Platinum Jubilee inspires new beer as countdown to celebration weekend really gets under way

A brand new beer inspired by the Platinum Jubilee has been launched as the countdown to the big celebratory weekend hit 100 days.

Windsor and Eton Brewery saw customers enjoy their  Castle Hill Platinum Pale Ale for the first time on February 22nd 2022. The drink, described as ”distinctive and refreshing” was created to mark the 70th anniversary of The Queen’s reign.

It’s made using champagne yeast and has a pale, platinum colour. Amongst its ingredients are barley from the Royal Farm at Windsor and hops from around the world, including some grown in New Zealand.

Its launch comes just days after the Royal Collection Trust put its own English sparkling wine on sale to mark the Jubilee.

Meanwhile, the five finalists for the Platinum Pudding contest are being chosen with one of the judges, Monica Galetti, revealing that gin is among the most popular ingredients in the recipes sent in to create a dessert fit for The Queen.

Elizabeth II marked the 70th anniversary of her reign on February 6th 2022 but the main celebrations will take place on the long weekend of June 2nd to June 5th 2022.
