King Charles and Queen Camilla become cover stars in Germany

The first outgoing State Visit of the reign of King Charles III has caught imaginations in Germany as his host country shows an big interest in the trip. The second morning of their visit saw The King and Queen Camilla take centre stage in many major German newspapers.

Images of royal visitors look out from the front pages of the biggest circulating publications in the country. From the historic official welcome at the Brandenberg Gate (the first ever given to a Head of State at the famous Berlin location) to the sparkling State Dinner at Bellevue Castle, every moment of the visit has been covered extensively by the German press.

The King’s speech at the State Dinner, where he spoke of the importance of links between the UK and Germany and promised to continue to strengthen the ties, is widely reported on. So, too, is the warm welcome given to King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Brandenberg Gate where large crowds were waiting to see them at the start of this historic State Visit.

Queen Camilla’s bright turquoise outfit is a striking front page photo for many papers while King Charles III’s evident delight at meeting the wellwishers who had come along to greet him also features in a series of smiling images taken in the heart of Berlin.

The State Visit to Germany continues today with a meeting with Chancellor Olof Schulz.
