Who is Princess Eléonore of Belgium?

Her Royal Highness Princess Eléonore Fabiola Victoria Anne Marie of Belgium was born on 16 April 2008 at the Erasmus Hospital in Anderlecht. She weighed 3.210 kg and measured 50 cm. She was born as the fourth child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. Eléonore has one older sister, Princess Elisabeth and two older brothers, Prince Gabriël and Prince Emmanuel. The Princess was named after her maternal grandmother Anne Marie, her paternal great-aunt Queen Fabiola and her godmother Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. The Princess is fourth in line to the throne.

On 14 June 2008, Princess Eléonore was baptised in the chapel of the Castle of Ciergnon, located in the Ardennes. Her godmothers are Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her aunt, Princess Claire of Belgium. Her godfather is Count Sébastien von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg.

Princess Eléonore attends the Saint John Berchmans College, a public school in Brussels. She is educated in Dutch, but she is also fluent in French. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde speak French with their children when they are in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium, and Dutch when they are in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of the country. At school, Her Royal Highness is also learning English.

The Princess plays the violin and likes to read. She recently demonstrated her skills on the violin as she played a piece of music for her father’s birthday. Her other hobbies are drawing, cycling, swimming, sailing and skiing. The Princess lives with her parents, siblings and their dog at the Royal Palace of Laeken.

Princess Eléonore regularly joins her parents at official engagements. Each year, she attends the festivities of the National Day and the Christmas concert at the Royal Palace of Brussels. Each year, there are also summer and winter photo sessions in which she takes part. Occasionally, she also joins her mother or father when they go on an official visit.
