Earlier today, the Swedish Royal Court published a new family picture to wish the people a very happy summer. Releasing a full family picture at the end of July has become a new tradition.
In the picture Their Majesties were pictured accompanied by Crown Princess Victoria, her husband Prince Daniel and their children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip, his wife Princess Sofia (who’s due to give birth to the couple’s second child in September) and their son Prince Alexander, Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O’Neill with their children Princess Leonore and Prince Nicolas.

The picture was taken in front of Solliden Palace – the family’s summer palace on the Swedish island of Öland. The family has a long tradition of spending their summer holiday on the beautiful island. In the picture, the family colour coordinated their outfits to make the image perfect. The whole family is dressed in blue and white except for Princess Madeleine and Princess Sofia who both chose a very soft tint of brown.
The photo was taken on the 15th of July when Crown Princess Victoria’s birthday was publically celebrated on Öland – another long tradition. Normally Victoriadagen, the celebration of the Crown Princess’s birthday, takes place on her actual birthday the 14th of July, but as she marked a milestone birthday -40-, the celebrations were spread over two days. The picture was taken by a familiar photographer for the family, Jonas Ekströmer.
The image has been shared on all the social media accounts of the Swedish Royal Family -Facebook and Instagram – and also on their official website. Princess Madeleine also shared the picture on her personal Facebook and added, “Summer is family time! Happy summer everyone from all of us!” The Royal Family has recently released a family picture every July; the family published such images in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
