The Swedish Royal Family gathered at Oscar Theatre last night to celebrate Queen Silvia’s 75th birthday which is on 23 December. The event “A tribute show for HM the Queen” touched on the important work Queen Silvia has undertaken in her time as Queen.
The Queen was able to spend time with all three of her children, as Princess Madeleine and her family have travelled to Sweden from Miami, Florida, USA to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday and Christmas.
At Oscar Theatre last night was King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill.
The artists Kiralina, Philip Jalmelid and Tuva B Larsen from the musical “As in the sky”, Aminah Al Fakir, Carola and students from Lilla Akademien Music School all provided entertainment during the celebration.
Members of the Royal Family also spoke with Crown Princess Victoria telling Queen Silvia, “To me, you are a big model, and I am so proud that you are my mother. I love you.”
Princess Madeleine delivered remarks, praising her mother’s work with children and the vulnerable, before saying, “Now I have to stop talking before I start crying.”
Queen Silvia ended the tribute show by hugging her family members. Margareta Thorgen, Information and Press Officer of the Royal Court, told Expressen that Her Majesty was “extremely grateful” for the tribute.
Representatives from Queen Silvia’s various patronages were also in attendance, and invited guests were later able to speak to the Queen to share their birthday wishes. Several also presented Her Majesty will small gifts.
The event was filmed and will be broadcast in Sweden on 22 December on SVT.
Celebrations continue today as a reception will be held at the Royal Palace with the King and Queen in attendance.
