Crown Princess Victoria made a speech to celebrate the anniversary. She talked about the nice memories she has in the city: ” Our first trip to the country as a newlywed was to our duchy of Västergötland. And among other cities, here to Alingsås. And a few years earlier, I was here by myself and inaugurated an accessibility-adapted playground. And of course, I tried it too … So I have nice memories from here!”

She also talked about the city’s development over the years and its strong values for the future saying: “From a small church village of three hundred inhabitants to a city of forty thousand. From barter to the textile industry. And on to today’s many entrepreneurs in small and medium-sized businesses. Alingsås history is in many ways also Sweden’s history. […] Alingsås’s vision for 2040 is the quality of life for all through innovation, commitment, and accessibility. I am convinced that these are values with strong sustainability – today, tomorrow and for a long time to come.” Following her speech, she and Prince Daniel watched the first part of the Alingsås 400 minutes anniversary concert.
