Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden have revealed their first family photo since the birth of Prince Julian in March.
The happy family of five is seen sitting on an outdoor couch as Prince Gabriel, 3, smiles with his tongue out at the camera. The other four look off to the side in the garden of what is assumed to be Solliden Palace – the Royal Family’s private summer home where they gather each year to celebrate Crown Princess Victoria’s birthday (Victoriadagen) on 14 July.
In their Instagram post, the Prince Couple said: “A summer greeting from our family.”
The post has garnered over 49,000 likes since it was posted this morning.
Prince Gabriel will soon celebrate his fourth birthday – on 31 August – and the Prince and Princess are expected to share a new image or two of him on their Instagram account to mark the occasion.
Prince Alexander turned five in April, and Prince Julian was born on 26 March this year. Julian’s christening is due to take place on 14 August at the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace. His baptism will be the first of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s grandchildren to not air on television. However, the Swedish media will have a few positions inside and outside the church for videos and photos of the event.
Julian’s godparents will not be announced until the day before the ceremony. However, Prince Daniel, his uncle, is highly tipped to be selected as one of his godparents.
The King, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill are all confirmed to attend the ceremony. In addition, Julian’s older brothers, Princes Alexander and Gabriel, are expected to attend, but the Royal Court does not announce the children’s attendance ahead of time. Princess Estelle, 9, may also attend; she is the daughter of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel and the oldest grandchild of the King and Queen.
