Queen Silvia makes special gift request for her milestone birthday

The Queen of Sweden has made a special request to those wanting to send her a gift to mark a milestone birthday and asked them to send donations to support children experiencing mental health issues in Ukraine through the conflict there.

Queen Silvia wants anyone who wishes to celebrate her day with a present to contribute to a fundraiser organised by Radiohjalpen within the World Children campaign which will help young people impacted by the war.

Radiohjalpen is a fundraising foundation which works with Swedish public services to co-ordinate campaigns for humanitarian purposes.

The campaign for Queen Silvia’s birthday fundraiser will continue until December 31st 2023. The link to the campaign can be found here.

The Swedish queen turns 80 on December 23rd 2023.

As her big day approaches, the Swedish Royal Family has set up a dedicated website for the event which includes details of the campaign that Queen Silvia is asking people to support as a gift to her.

There is also the chance to send an electronic greeting to the queen for her birthday as well as details of how to send her a card.

And if wellwishers do still want to hand over a gift for her birthday must take it to the Post and Logistik at the Royal Palace in Stockholm with full details given on the Swedish royal website.

Queen Silvia has been consort of Sweden longer than anyone else in history. A series of receptions will also mark her birthday.
