Princess Madeleine of Sweden has shared an Instagram post to show her support for Ukraine.
The Princess shared a photo of a woman hugging a child while writing about her visits to Ukraine and its connection with the Childhood Foundation – a charity her mother, Queen Silvia, founded in the 1990s.
“For more than 18 years, Childhood has been active in Ukraine and we have established close and strong partnerships with grassroot-organisations reaching the most vulnerable children. I have had the opportunity to meet some of these organisations during my visits to Ukraine. My thoughts are with them and the children during these difficult times,” Madeleine said.
The Swedish royal is not the only royal sharing thoughts on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Norway’s Princess Märtha Louise shared a photo of the Ukrainian flag with a poem from Amanda Gorman, saying:
“There is no such thing as gentle war.
There is no peace
That can’t be flung aside.
Our only enemy is that which would
Make us enemies to each other.”
Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece shared a similar photo saying she stands with Ukraine.
“In this day and age to attack a peaceful sovereign state?!? How can we allow this? How do we protect Democracy and freedom around the world. I stand with Ukraine wholeheartedly. We need to protect the 44 million men, women and children who live there,” she wrote.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also released a statement this evening on Twitter, writing: “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future. W&C”
