Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia hand out Elle Gala honorary award

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden enjoyed a night away from their three boys as they handed out awards at the Elle Gala in Stockholm.

On Friday, 21 April, the Princely Couple arrived at the Grand Hotel in the Swedish capital, where they had the opportunity to present Angelo da Silveira with Elle’s honorary award.

Princess Sofia was in charge of reading the jury’s reasonings behind their decision: “A creative force that not only dresses a new generation but changes the Swedish fashion industry. By bringing the textile industry back to Sweden, he creates new jobs that make use of the skills of new arrivals. His infectious optimism makes the impossible possible.”

For the first time, the gala organisation committee opted to hold the red carpet outside rather than the usual indoor event, and, in an event where white was the predominant colour choice among attending guests, Princess Sofia’s simple lilac dress was a refreshing touch of early spring.

As it has become usual since they opened their personal profile, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia followed up on the event by posting a few photographs of the event on their Instagram page, alongside the caption: “It was a great honour to present Angelo da Silveira with the Elle Gala honorary award yesterday.”

This event occurred just days after the couple celebrated their first son’s seventh birthday on 19 April. Prince Alexander’s big day was marked by the posting of one picture in which the young Prince appears smiling from ear to ear, dressed in a mint jumper and beige trousers.

The couple has two more sons: Prince Gabriel, born on 31 August 2017, and Prince Julian, born on 26 March 2021. Prince Julian was the first and only baby born in the Swedish Royal Family after King Carl XVI Gustaf’s decision to “rescind the royal status” from Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine’s children to slim down the monarchy. All of them retain their titles of Prince or Princess and the duchies the King announced for them at birth, as well as their places in the line of succession to the throne.
