Look who’s one! Princess Adrienne of Sweden celebrates first birthday

The youngest member of the Swedish Royal Family is celebrating her first birthday today with her family in their home in Florida.

Princess Adrienne, the youngest child of Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill, was born one year ago in Danderyd Hosptial in Danderyd, Sweden. She joined older siblings, Princess Leonore (b. 20 February 2014 in New York) and Prince Nicolas (b. 15 June 2015 in Danderyd).

In celebration, as is the tradition, a new photo was released of the little royal taken by her mother Princess Madeleine. She was holding a Childhood – charity founded by Queen Silvia which Madeleine works with – bracelet in her hands.

It’s been a busy time for birthdays over the past two months. First, Adrienne’s older sister turned five on 20 February; then, her cousin, Princess Estelle turned seven three days later. Next, Prince Oscar (the brother of Estelle) celebrated his third birthday on 2 March. And the young birthdays don’t end here. In a little over a month, Adrienne’s older cousin, Prince Alexander will turn three on 19 April.

Of course, their grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf will turn 73 on 30 April.

Her Royal Highness Princess Adrienne Josephine Alice of Sweden, Duchess of Blekinge, was born on 9 March 2018. As tenth in line of succession to the Swedish throne, Adrienne is the third granddaughter and seventh grandchild of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

Adrienne was christened into the Church of Sweden on 8 June 2018 in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace; the date is a special one for her family as it was the day her parents married in 2013 and the date of Leonore’s 2014 christening.

The Princess’s godparents are Anouska d’Abo, Coralie Charriol Paul, Nader Panahpour, Gustav Thott, Charlotte Kreuger Cederlund and Natalie Werner.

She has been a member of the Royal Order of the Seraphim since birth, and she was presented with the honour during her christening, as per tradition, by her grandfather, the King. She was given a baby version of the sash worn at events, but Princess Adrienne will not wear it again until she turns 18.

Adrienne resides in Miami, Florida, will her family where her American-British father is employed.
