Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel will undertake a Swedish business delegation to Denmark in mid-September and will be hosted by their Danish counterparts, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.
The Royal Houses of Denmark and Sweden announced the news on their official websites earlier in the week, noting that the trip comes at the behest of Business Sweden and Svensk Näringsliv, to promote and encourage Swedish-Danish business over a three-day period.
The Danish Royal House notes that between 16 to 18 September, the couples will “visit, among other things, a number of companies in the capital, the UN City, and attend the Danish Industry’s annual summit.”
According to a press release from the Swedish Royal House, the delegation is all about “promoting cooperation with Denmark, one of Sweden’s largest trading partners, and to lift the UN’s sustainability goals in the framework of Agenda 2030.”
The UN’s sustainability goals include 17 actionable items such as eradication of poverty, zero hunger, quality education, gender equality, affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, life below water, life on land, and partnerships to achieve the Goal.
The UN City in Copenhagen is two campuses that contain 11 UN agencies, and 1,200 employees from 104 countries. Some of the agencies headquartered there include the UN Children’s Fund, the UN Population Fund, the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, the World Health Organization, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The Royal House of Sweden notes that 20 Swedish companies will be represented on the trip and that topics concerning the “modernization of health care, the green transition, as well as infrastructure and transport, are the themes in focus during the days.”
This Swedish business delegation mirrors the one that Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary undertook in Stockholm in May 2017, which saw the Danish couple join over 60 Danish businesses on the trip.
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will join the Swedish Crown Princess Couple at various engagements throughout their visit, and a full schedule will be released at a later date.
