Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel get a night out at the theatre

Shortly after resuming their in-person agenda, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel treated themselves to a night out at the theatre.

On the evening of Wednesday, 10 February, the Crown Princess Couple arrived at Stadsteatern, the theatre that is part of the Stockholm Culture House complex, to attend a performance of the piece Mammorna.

The show is loosely based on the homonym book by journalist and host Alexandra Pascalidou and tells the stories of four mothers who have lost their children to violence and shootings.

In the performance, the four mothers talk about grief, frustrations, the struggle to keep going, but also about the love and the more eternal meaning the word took after their children’s passing.

The topic of the piece is of surprising relevance in today’s world, seen as though many countries seems to be experiencing a resurgence of violence after almost two years of declining numbers.

Following the show, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel talked with actresses Gloria Tapia, Chatarina Larsson and Lo Kauppii, and Stadsteatern Theatre director Maria Sid before posing for a photo opportunity.

The Crown Princess Couple Foundation, opened in 2010 to channel wedding donations for the nuptials of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, supports many organisations that work towards making life safer and healthier for young people.

The topics that this performance talks about are aligned with the couple’s recently tightened interest in mental health; the global shutdown has made it so that mental health issues have skyrocketed in numbers, and many organisations have had to shift more of their resources on the fight against mental illness.

The current health situation has also brought up a surge in violence-related crimes all around the world, something that the Crown Princess and Prince will have undoubtedly heard about during their many meetings with local administrators and defence officials.
