Crown Princess Family of Sweden releases annual Christmas video

The Swedish Royal Court has released the annual Christmas video of the Crown Princess Family today. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar are seen

The family records a special video each year to release ahead of the holiday to wish everyone a happy Christmas. This year the family travelled to the Stockholm City Mission to bring gifts and help wrap presents that will be distributed to needy families for Christmas. The Crown Princess has been the patron of the mission since 2010.

The Royal Court released two versions of the video on Tuesday afternoon. One version is in Swedish while the other has English subtitles.

The children learn about the Stockholm City Mission before helping out with the wrapping of the gifts, which both enjoyed. Before they began wrapping, Crown Princess Victoria said to Estelle: “You like giving presents, don’t you?”

Estelle responds, as any child would, by saying: “I love giving them, and I love getting them!”

But Victoria reminds her elder child about the importance of giving, “Then you also know how wonderful it is to be able to give a gift that’s appreciated?”

The young princess nodded and said: “Yes.”

Princess Estelle, 8, wraps gifts on her own while Victoria helped four-year-old Prince Oscar. Estelle said that wrapping the gifts made her “feel Christmassy,” and Oscar got excited about the gingerbread biscuits he found.

At one point, Victoria explained to Oscar that they had to be careful cutting the paper, so they did not cut the hair of “Pippi.”

The family ends the video by telling everyone: “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”

This year, Stockholm City Mission has received 9,000 gifts, and 850 families have been allowed, following COVID protocols, to come and select gifts at the mission. There will be 3,000 children and young people who get to open gifts from the mission on Christmas Eve.
