It is not expected that Chris, who holds dual American-British citizenship, will meet with the media later on today as the gender of the child and her weight and height have been announced in a press release. This is a tradition of the father’s in the Swedish Royal Family. Chris met with the media when his and Madeleine’s first child, Princess Leonore, was born in New York in February 2014. However, when their second child, Prince Nicolas was born, he did not formally meet with the media.
On Monday, a Te Deum service will be held in the Royal Chapel of Stockholm Palace at 12:15 in honour of the new baby with the Swedish Royal Family in attendance, with the obvious exception of Princess Madeleine and her new child. It is possible but not definite that Princess Leonore and Prince Nicolas will accompany their father to the Christian service. It remains to be seen if Chris O’Neill’s family will be in Stockholm for the Te Deum.
The new Princess of Sweden’s name and duchy will be announced by her grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf in a cabinet meeting alongside Crown Princess Victoria in the coming days. A christening is expecting in around three months with Prince Daniel (the husband of Crown Princess Victoria) widely tipped to be a godfather.
Princess Madeleine and her family reside in London, but Her Royal Highness and O’Neill decided in early February that their third child would be born in Sweden instead of the United Kingdom.
Madeleine announced that she was expecting their third child on her Facebook account in August 2017.
The couple married on 8 June 2013 in the Royal Chapel of Stockholm Palace. Their first child, Princess Leonore was born on 20 February 2013 in New York City making her a dual American-Swedish citizen. Their second child, Prince Nicolas was born on 15 June 2015 in Stockholm.
