The King, who was accompanied by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Pedro Saura, was greeted by various airport officials before entering the terminal. He was then provided with a technical explanation of the construction of the airport through videos, various images, and models before receiving a tour and the opening ceremony.

His Majesty was able to see the customs area for passports, control areas, and luggage areas, as well as “the Airport Coordination Center (CECA) with the presence of workers from the AIRM Operations Department; the Board Room of the 2nd floor where representatives of the Departments of Engineering, Human Resources and Administration of the AIRM travelled,” according to Casa Real.

The King was also able to go into the Control Tower and speak to emergency services and the traffic control team on the ground.
