Donations from Crown Princess Katherine help provide two schools with libraries

Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia

The Serbian Royal Family has started the new year by donating to the Serbian community. The charity organization of Crown Princess Katherine had completed new school libraries at two schools in the Serbian cities of Melnica and Stamnica.

New bookshelves, desks, chairs and paintings of the world-renowned Serbian scientist, Nikola Tesla, were donated to both schools. The new library at the school in Melnica was completed by a generous donation from the Three Circles of Serbian Sisters from Illinois. The new library at the school in Stamnica was made possible by a generous donation from The Nelson Family Charitable Foundation.

In connection with the news, Her Royal Highness issued the following statement: “I am very grateful to Lifeline Chicago, the Three Circles of Serbian Sisters, and to the Nelson Family Charitable Foundation who always think of our children and continue to help in difficult times. Children always come first and always will. This donation will provide good and proper learning conditions for the children, which is very important for their education. It is the duty of adults to help the children while they are growing up, to give them the best possible conditions for learning, so they can have a better and more certain future”.

Dragisa Milosevic, Principal of Elementary school Branko Radicevic in Melnica issued the following statement: “Thanks to a donation from Crown Princess Katherine, students and teachers of the school in Melnica and its regional branch in Stamnica gained the opportunity to perform their activities in a pleasant environment, in modern libraries, and to cherish the love for reading. As we have done up to now, we will continue strive to enrich the school libraries with new titles every year, which follow the needs of education and interests of our students. On behalf of the students and staff of the Elementary School “Branko Radičević” in Melnica and on my behalf, I would like to thank Crown Princess Katherine on her donation”.

In 1993, Crown Princess Katherine founded the Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation, which currently has offices in Chicago, New York, Toronto, London and Athens. This organisation, together with the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, works to collect money for medical equipment that has been delivered to numerous hospitals in Serbia.
