On the occasion of Easter, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia has sent his warmest congratulations to the believers who celebrate it according to the Gregorian calendar. The full statement from His Royal Highness states as follows:

“The biggest holiday of the Christian world, Easter is celebrated today, differently than in previous years since the whole world is fighting the virus pandemic. I wish to praise governments, doctors, nurses, hospitals and health workers for their continued dedication in saving so many lives.”

The Crown Prince continues: “I extend my warmest congratulations to all believers who celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to the Gregorian calendar. For Christians, Easter is the most important holiday. This is a special and holy time of the year! We rejoice in celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ today, reflecting on his life and teachings on generosity, tolerance, compassion and forgiveness! I wish you to spend this great feast in health, peace, happiness and tranquillity. Christ is risen!”

Although the Crown Prince and his family are members of the Orthodox Serbian Church, which has not celebrated Easter yet, the Crown Prince has marked himself as a bridge-builder between the many religions on the Balkans. Both Jewish, Muslims and the various Christian communities benefit from his support in Serbia.

They usually hold a traditional Easter Bazaar of handicrafts made by refugees and children with special needs in Belgrade. All the revenue from the sale of the handicrafts is intended to help vulnerable groups. Due to the ongoing coronavirus, it has not been possible this year.
