Princess Sophie of Romania announces new photo exhibition

Princess Sophie of Romania is a renowned photographer. Now she has announced that she will hold a brand new photo exhibition in Poland on her Facebook page. The photo exhibition is named “Princess Sophie’s Romanian journey”, and from 4 September until 30 September, you can see the exhibition at the BWA Art Gallery and the Castle of Ksiaz in Wałbrzych municipality, Poland.

The exhibition is described to give a visual journey to the heart of Romania. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire expressive portraits and picturesque landscapes. Her Royal Highness will attend the opening of the exhibition and meet with students from schools in Wałbrzych municipality.

With this exhibition, the Princess continues the tradition of her late father, King Michael; she said previously that she inherited her love of photography from him. Princess Sophie’s first exhibitions were in the late 1970s, in St. Tropez and Monte Carlo. After two and a half years of study of fine arts and photography in the United States, at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, she spent months in total isolation in Maine’s Acadia National Park, preparing a series of paintings of the rocky North Atlantic seacoast in acrylic on wood. There, she exhibited on both American coasts, including Nantucket, Palm Beach, and Los Angeles. She also exhibited in Nassau, Bahamas.

Princess Sophie of Romania is the fourth daughter of King Michael and Queen Anne of Romania. She was born at Tatoi Palace in Decelea, then the Kingdom of Greece in exile in 1957. Her Royal Highness was educated in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Princess Sophie has exhibited her photography for a number of years and has held exhibitions in France and Romania. In addition, she took part in the Royal Bridges Art Exhibition in Dubai in 2016.

She currently resides in Romania.
