Queen Mary returned to work after the summer holidays on Tuesday, sporting leopard print flats and a smile as she arrived at Momentet.
The Danish queen spoke briefly to the press before entering the Momentet building, saying, “I have been looking forward to being back at work and I have been incredibly happy to visit the children here at Momentet.”
According to their official website, Momentet provides social and mental support to young people through housing, social programmes, and professional care 24/7. Their work is completed through “a holistic social work, recovery-oriented effort with a focus on involving the young adult throughout the entire process.”

Queen Mary joined in a milestone meeting during her visit, which is a meeting of a Momentet resident and the staff to discuss concrete steps “on the path towards increased quality of life and self-sufficiency,” according to the Danish Royal Court.
She also received a tour of the building and listened to a musical performance.
Queen Mary serves as patron of Diakonissestiftelsen, or The Deaconess Foundation, the organisation behind Momentet. The Foundation was formed 160 years ago to provide support to people of all ages through care, education and welfare initiatives.
On their official Facebook page, Momentet wrote: “A warm thank you to the Queen for the visit and her great efforts to support young people in realizing their hopes and dream.”
The Danish Royal Court shared photos of Queen Mary’s visit on social media, writing that “Hopes and dreams for the future were among the topics that Her Majesty The Queen discussed with Momentet’s young residents on Wednesday afternoon.”
Next month, King Frederik and Queen Mary will travel to Belgium for their first state visit as monarchs. Between 8-10 September, the Danish king and queen will explore bilateral trade, green initiatives, and the economic ties that bind the two countries together “in a changing time marked by geopolitical shifts and increased demands for European action,” according to the Danish Royal Court.
