After the summer holidays, King Frederik and Queen Mary have teed up their next State Visit: the royal couple will officially visit Belgium in September.
The Danish Royal Court announced on Wednesday that between 8-10 September, King Frederik and Queen Mary will be guests of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde as they “mark the community of values” between their countries.
The Court elaborated that “in a changing time marked by geopolitical shifts and increased demands for European action, Denmark and Belgium stand together in the ambition of a strong and competitive Europe that safeguards our common values.”
King Frederik and Queen Mary will begin their State Visit in Brussels, where they will meet not only their Belgian counterparts but also the Prime Minister, the Parliament, and the Mayor of Brussels.
The first evening will conclude with a gala dinner at the Castle of Laeken.
Their second day will see the Danish royal couple in Wallonia, where they will tour Lauzelle Forest to learn about the ecological restoration of the area. Later in Brussels, Danish business leaders who work within the energy and life sciences sectors will meet with King Frederik and Queen Mary.
King Frederik and Queen Mary will also visit the Danish Church in Brussels, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year before hosting a return event in the evening.
On their final day in Belgium, King Frederik and Queen Mary will travel to Flanders, specifically to Antwerp, where they will learn how the port city has been transformed into a cultural capital of Europe.
King Frederik and Queen Mary will then host a luncheon aboard the Dannebrog, the Danish Royal Family’s yacht, before sailing back to Denmark.
A full programme will be unveiled closer to the State Visit.
