Princess Catharina-Amalia will pay a special visit to the Amsterdam City Council next week after receiving a special invitation from the mayor of the capital city.
The future queen of the Netherlands has received a special invitation to Amsterdam City Council on 10 September at the request of Mayor Femke Halsema to learn more about the official activities happening in the city and to meet the municipal executive.
According to the Dutch Royal Court, Princess Catharina-Amalia will meet with residents of the city at a luncheon to learn more about both the city and its people, and will include business owners, culture sector and sports organization workers and more.
The city’s official poet, Ellen Deckwitz, will be there to recite a poem about Amsterdam at the conclusion of Princess Catharina-Amalia’s visit.

This falls in line with traditional work undertaken by the heir to the Dutch throne; when King Willem-Alexander was 21, he was also invited to Amsterdam for a visit by then-Mayor Ed van Thijn.
The future queen recently announced her future plans for her education and military training, which means she’ll be spending a lot of time in Amsterdam for the foreseeable future.
After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics at the University of Amsterdam—barring one credit, which she was forced to miss in her final semester due to a broken arm and subsequent surgery—she will continue on at the University for a Bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law.
At the same time, Princess Catharina-Amalia will also take part in the Defensity College training program over the next two academic years. This program is for working students to be trained into becoming reservists.
At the Dutch Royal Family’s summer photocall, Princess Catharina-Amalia said: “I’m really looking forward to it, of course my arm will cause some delay, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
