
Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s military appointment is rapidly coming to an end, and the Norwegian Royal Court has announced that she’ll undertake a new duty in the coming weeks: participating in a state visit.
The future queen, who has spent the 15 months with the Combat Engineer Battalion in Brigade Nord, will take part in the upcoming Finnish State Visit to Norway on 8 April.
According to the Royal Court, Princess Ingrid Alexandra will join her parents and grandparents at the official welcome ceremony for President Halla Tómasdóttir, and her husband Björn Skúlason, at the Palace Square before accompanying them to the luncheon inside the Royal Palace.
Later that evening, in one of her first major tiara appearances, Princess Ingrid Alexandra will attend the gala dinner alongside the Finnish President and her husband, her grandparents, parents and her great-aunt.
Previously, the future queen—Norway’s future modern queen regnant—has only participated in white tie events tied to her 18th birthday in 2022 and Crown Prince Christian’s 18th birthday celebrations in 2023. On her 18th birthday, she received a pearl and diamond circlet tiara that once belonged to her great-great-grandmother Princess Ingeborg of Sweden.
While she’s served, Princess Ingrid Alexandra hasn’t carried out many royal duties. At Christmas, she joined in on holiday engagements with her parents; and her parents have occasionally visited her in Troms.
Crown Prince Haakon visited his daughter earlier this month during the Joint Viking winter military exercise in northern Norway. Princess Ingrid Alexandra was among the 10,000 soldiers from allied nations taking part in the exercise.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra currently serves as a rifleman on a CV90 STING vehicle. She announced late last year that her service would be extended through April 2025 and has yet to announce her future plans.
