King Harald leaves hospital after treatment for infection

King Harald V of Norway has been discharged from hospital where he was treated for three days for an infection.

The King of Norway left Oslo University Hospital on August 8th 2022 and was said by royal officials to be in good health now.

King Harald, who is 85, spent several days receiving intravenous antibiotics to deal with the unspecified infection.

He was taken to hospital on August 4th 2022 after developing a fever which required further investigation. He had only just returned to Norway from Switzerland where he had taken part in a sailing competition.

No further details of the king’s illness or recovery were given.

King Harald’s next scheduled engagement is on August 12th 2022 when he is due to hold a Council of State at the Royal Palace in Oslo. His son and heir, Crown Prince Haakon, is also set to attend that meeting.
