The Countess of Wessex sends joy filled congratulations to England’s hockey stars

The Countess of Wessex has described England’s women’s hockey champions as ”stars” as she sent a personal message of congratulations to the team following their gold medal win at the Commonwealth Games.

It’s the first time the England women’s team have claimed top spot in the competition at the games.

Sophie, who is patron of England Hockey, shared her joy at the win in a special post on the Royal Family’s official social media.

The Countess wrote on Twitter ”Massive, massive congratulations”, adding ”well-deserved Commonwealth Gold medallists.”

And there was special praise for captain, Holly Hunt, in the royal message as Sophie continued ”Well done Holly for leading such a fabulous team. I am so happy and so, so proud of you all. You are all stars.”

England took gold with a 2-1 win over Australia.
