Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has continued to carry out engagements upon her return to duties following her sick leave. On Thursday, she hosted a working lunch alone on behalf of the Royal Family.
The Crown Princess hosted a lunch at the palace for all of the country’s governors to thank them for their work. These governors represent the Norway’s royal house in their county and are appointed by King Harald. They help to facilitate royal visits and engagements throughout the country, as well assist with orders and medals.Â
Each year, the Norwegian Royal Family invites the governors to a meal at the palace.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit hosted this lunch alone this year. She looked happy to be there as she greeted the guests and gave a speech where she thanked the governors for their help.Â
Crown Prince Haakon, currently the acting as regent, was originally meant to be attending the lunch.Â
Seg og Hor has reported that on Thursday, the Crown Prince was seen boarding a flight to London with his stepson, Marius Borg Høiby. It is thought that Borg Høiby is potentially going to rehab, though the royal house did not confirm the reason for Haakon’s absence.Â
Marius Borg Høiby has been followed by controversy this autumn after being arrested on suspicion of physical assault in August. It was later revealed that he had been hosting parties at the Crown Prince and Crown Princess’s residence, where objects were later found to be missing.
