Queen Maxima adopts surprising new pet

MAXIMA

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has adopted surprising new pets.

The Queen of the Netherlands adopted three hedgehogs, who are now living in the gardens of Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.

The Government Information Service (RVD) has not revealed where the animals came from.

The Royal House of the Netherlands revealed Maxima’s new pets in a post on Instagram, explaining that hedgehogs are having a difficult time in the Netherlands. They are losing their habitat and struggling to find enough food.

The Royal House explained that the hedgehogs were released at the palace because “the garden and the forest area offer plenty of food and space for the hedgehogs due to the many different plants and shrubs.”

The Animal Protection Society has since given advice to the Queen on taking care of her new friends. They explained that the animals will need extra food due to being released at this time of year. They suggested cat food and a bowl of water that they could not fall into be provided for the three hedgehogs.

The Royal Family also has several dogs including labradors and a toy poodle.
