Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien unhappy after paparazzi photos published of 18-year-old daughter

Prince Constantijn – brother of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands – and his wife Princess Laurentien are unhappy after paparazzi photos of their 18-year-old daughter Countess Eloise were published in Weekend magazine.

They commented to Shownieuws, “First and foremost, Eloise is a private person with a right to privacy. We expect that this will be respected. This photo was obviously taken in a private environment, has no news value and does not add to the public debate.”

Countess Eloise was photographed while smoking as she waited for her friends outside of a supermarket in Amsterdam, where she just began her new studies at the Hotelschool. As she is not a member of the Dutch Royal House, she does not fall under the media code which prohibits the publishing of private photos of the Dutch royals.

Eloise – who recently became something of an Instagram hit – also responded to the reports in Weekend magazine on her Instagram. She said, “This is so weird to experience, and it makes me very uncomfortable to photographed for no reason. I smoke one cigarette, and someone takes a photo… where is the news? I want to enjoy my student life. I hope you will understand that!” She currently has 159,000 Instagram followers.
