Countess Eloise becomes an Instagram hit

Countess Eloise of Orange-Nassau, the eldest daughter of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands, and thus a niece of King Willem-Alexander, has been making her way on Instagram.

Countess Eloise is one of the few Dutch royals who regularly gives us a look into her private life via her own Instagram account. She told the NOS Jeugdjournaal – a news program aimed at children – “I just want to show people that you can be yourself.”

She received a wide array of responses to a photo of herself holding a flag that announced her graduation from high school and not just positive responses. She was accused of being undeserving and that she had probably been gifted her diploma for being the King’s niece. She put the haters in their place and said, “I told them to mind their words because they were saying this about a 17-year-old child. Many people say that you shouldn’t give the negative responses any attention, but I thought, I am just going to do it because every time there is something big, there will be something we supposedly did wrong.”

“I think people see me as an authentic and open person. I think it’s fun that I am one of the few people in my family that has a public account. I think a lot of people like seeing that, oh, she’s also a normal girl. I just want to broadcast a little bit of positive energy. I have fun and stuff. I think people like seeing that too. Be positive, and you’ll be alright.”
