Princess Charlene primed for a possible return to Monaco as she continues to recover from mystery illness

It has been reported that Princess Charlene could return to Monaco within a matter of weeks to attend celebrations for Sainte-Dévote – the Patron Saint of the Principality.

The relationship between the Princely Family of Monaco and Sainte Dévote is both ancient and strong, with it being one of the most important events in Princess Charlene’s calendar.

Every year, members of the Princely Family take part in the festivities to remember their Patron Saint.

It has been mooted by some royal commentators that should she be well enough, Her Serine Highness may arrive back in Monaco for the celebrations which she cares so much about.

The festivities were one of the very few public events Charlene attended last year alongside her family.

Last year, Charlene had been grounded in her native South Africa from May until November after becoming seriously unwell with an ear, nose and throat infection. She required several surgical procedures to treat the condition and was finally cleared to return to Monaco in November.

However, a few days after arriving back in the country, she was transferred to an undisclosed location to continue her recovery.

The most recent official update from the Princely Palace in December was that her recovery is “encouragingly” and will take a few more months.
