Prince Albert says Princess Charlene could be back in Monaco sooner than planned

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco

Prince Albert says his wife, Princess Charlene, is ”ready to come home”, just days after the couple were photographed together during a reunion thousands of miles from Monaco.

Charlene has been in South Africa since May and has been unable to fly back to the principality because of an ENT infection that followed surgery for a sinus graft. In recent weeks, she has undergone a four hour operation to try to stabilise her condition.

Speaking exclusively to People, Prince Albert said that his wife was doing well after her latest procedure and hoped to be back in Monaco sooner than planned. Charlene had previously said her doctors advised she might be able to return by the end of October but Albert told People ”that was before this most recent round of appointments. I’m pretty sure we can cut that time frame a little short.”

The Prince accompanied his wife to a doctor’s appointment during their recent reunion in South Africa. Albert took the couple’s six year old twins, Jacques and Gabriella, to see their mum as she recuperated at the end of August. He’s now hopeful the family will be together again in Monaco soon although he acknowledged that her travel plans depend on what her doctors advise.

Charlene has been unable to fly for the past few months as the infection she has means her ears won’t stabilise above certain altitudes.

However, her husband added ”She’s jokingly said that she’s ready to stowaway on a ship to come back to Europe.”
