Meet Europe’s newest royal baby – and he’s got a rather significant name

Europe has a brand new royal baby and he has been given a name to mark the special time of year that he made his debut.

Luxembourg’s royals are celebrating as Prince Felix and Princess Claire welcomed their third child and second son on January 7th 2024 just as celebrations for Epiphany on January 6th came to an end.

And they have given their new baby the name of one of the three kings whose part in the Nativity is remembered at Epiphany. Europe’s newest prince is called Balthasar.

The full name of the latest addition to the Grand Ducal family is Balthasar Felix Karl. He arrived at the Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg and weighed 3.2 kilograms,

Prince Balthasar is a little brother for Princess Amalia and Prince Liam.

He is a seventh grandchild for Luxembourg’s Grand Duke, Henri, and his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and is also currently seventh in line to the throne.

The Grand Ducal family made the announcement on January 8th 2024, adding that both Princess Claire and Prince Balthasar are in perfect health and doing well.
