Today, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima spent their last day in Luxembourg with Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
The King and Queen of the Netherlands and the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess visited Neobuild SA. They were welcomed by Environment Minister Carole Dieschbourg and Neobuild SA President Roland Kuhn. As the first technological innovation pole for sustainable construction in the country, Neobuild SA aims to facilitate technological innovation and support Luxembourg companies active in this sector. The company uses, among other things, new materials, construction processes, renewable energies and certification systems. After a brief presentation of the company, the royal couple and the grand ducal couple also learned about the other entities such as Southern Water Union (SES), Contern SA, Paintings Robin SA and Digital Inclusion.
King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa then visited the CFL Multimodal, located on the Eurohub South site. They took part in a guided tour of the terminal where a demonstration took place and where they learned about the railway-highway.
Afterward, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attended a reception with the Dutch community living in Luxembourg.
The state visit ended at noon with the traditional ceremony of departure in front of the Grand Ducal Palace, during which the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess took leave of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. The King of the Netherlands said that this visit: “Our historical friendship and close cooperation have been reinforced during this state visit! Thank you very much for the warm welcome.”
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were accompanied to the airport by Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie. The Hereditary Grand Ducal couple were already the ones who welcomed the King and Queen of the Netherlands at the airport on the first day of the State Visit. King Willem-Alexander had a tight schedule as he also attended an event in The Netherlands in the afternoon just after arriving back from Luxembourg.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will soon meet with Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa again as both couples are confirmed to attend the gala dinner hosted by Queen Margrethe of Denmark in honour of Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday on 26 May.
