King Willem-Alexander pops in on King Frederik as a whirlwind royal tour begins

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands is travelling this week to help strengthen the relationship between the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway. And his first stop is Denmark.

The Dutch King is in Copenhagen to focus on sustainable hydrogen production between the two nations. It’s an area he’ll focus on again when his whirlwind royal tour takes him to Norway later on this week.

On Tuesday, both King Willem-Alexander and King Frederik attended a conference on hydrogen production for Danish and Dutch companies. The goal of the conference is to hopefully encourage new partnerships.

Willem-Alexander shared the importance of the working relationship. He said ”I am impressed by Denmark’s great potential as a producer and exporter of green hydrogen. Your country is one of the forerunners and has big plans. But you can’t do it alone. We really need each other for green hydrogen to make a breakthrough.

On Monday, 11 November, King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted Willem-Alexander for a private dinner at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg.

The Dutch King will then be travelling to Bergen, Norway on Wednesday morning to meet with Norwegian companies and learn more about sustainable innovation in industry before heading to Oslo. He will meet Crown Prince Haakon during his stay in Norway.
