European and international royals send their condolences after terror attack in Manchester

After the deadly attack in Manchester, European royals have shared their condolences to the victims, their families and the British people.

At least 22 have been killed with another 59 injured in a terrorist attack believed to be carried out by an ISIS associated single suicide bomber that occurred at the conclusion of the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena. Many of those in attendance were young children, teenagers and young adults.

UK election campaigning has been suspended after the horrendous attack.

Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece was the first to offer condolences and said on Twitter, “My heart goes out to the families at Manchester Arena. Our Democracy and freedom of thought will never falter or weaken. God Bless.”

The Spanish Monarchy released a statement on Twitter saying, “There are no words to condemn these murderers. The rule of law will not surrender to terrorism. Spain is with Manchester and United Kingdom.”

The King and Queen of Spain participated in a moment of silence at an event later in the day.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden released a statement saying, “It’s sad as the Queen and I received the message of the horrific deed in Manchester, UK. This deed is another attack against the open and tolerant society that we all want to live in. It is important that we stand united together against this unimaginable evil. My and the Royal Family’s thoughts go to the victims, their families and to the whole British people. “

He also sent a message to Her Majesty The Queen, “The Queen and I wish to convey our sincere condolences on the tragic loss of lives following the horrific attack in Manchester yesterday. We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims and to the people of the United Kingdom.”

The Belgian Monarchy said on Twitter, “Our thoughts are with the victims and injured in #Manchester & their families. Our deepest condolences to the people of the United Kingdom.”

The Belgian flag on the Royal Palace was lowered the half-mast in honour of the victims.

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands said, “This horrific attack in Manchester, which has taken so many young lives, has deeply touched us. We sympathise with all the parents who have just received the horrible news that their child has died and with their family members and friends, who are now in deep mourning. Also, those who are still living in fearful uncertainty about their loved one’s fate are in our thoughts.”

Representatives from Jordan posted on the Royal Hashemite Court’s Twitter account saying, “His Majesty King Abdullah II condemns the Manchester blast and offers condolences to British Prime Minister Theresa May.”

King Abdullah later added on his personal Twitter, “We must all stand united to destroy the khawarej outlaws of Islam, who committed the evil acts of terror in Manchester & threaten our values.”

Prince Albert of Monaco said, “It is with deep emotion that I learnt of the unspeakable tragedy in Manchester. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families of the innocent victims of this new act of violence. On behalf of the people of Monaco, my family and myself, allow us to express our feelings of deep pain and sorrow. Let me assure Your Majesty of our solidarity for the victims and their families.”

Prince Leka of Albania said, “My sincere condolences to the victims families of the terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert. #Horrificattack.”

The Grand Duke of Luxembourg sent a telegram to Her Majesty saying, “It is with great pain that the Grand Duchess and I have learned of the tragedy that occurred in Manchester last night. We are particularly horrified to learn that so many young people were present and are counted amongst the victims and the wounded.

“The Luxembourg people join us in expressing to Your Majesty our most heartfelt sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.”

King Harald of Norway sent a message to Her Majesty, as well, which said, “I was deeply saddened by the tragic news of the terror attack in Manchester, resulting in the loss of so many lives and inflicting such dreadful injuries. I extend my condolences and ask you to convey the deepest sympathy of the Norwegian people to the bereaved families and to those who are injured.”

Queen Margrethe of Denmark said in her letter to The Queen, “It was with profound shock and sadness that I received the news of the dreadful attacks on innocent predominantly young people gathered in Manchester on 22 May 2017.

“In this difficult time, my heartfelt sympathy is with you and with the British people. Please accept my deepest sympathy with the victims and my sincere condolences to their families.

“I pray that the death toll and number of injured will not rise further.”

Princess Haya of Jordan, and wife to UAE Prime Minister and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wrote a message of condolence on her Instagram saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families that have lost loved ones and with the parents that are waiting to hear if their children are safe in Manchester, today.

“I cannot even begin to imagine how horrific this and so many other similar acts have been, or how utterly desperate and desolate they must feel at this time.My sincere condolences to HM Queen Elizabeth II and the British people for the lost souls and young victims of the horrendous attack in Manchester. Prayers for everyone who has suffered from acts of senseless and evil violence around the world.”

The Emir of Qatar sent private condolences to The Queen and Prime Minister and wished all those injured a quick recovery. The Deputy Emir also sent his condolences. It was also announced that the King of Morocco had called the Prime Minister to condemn the barbaric attack.
