Surprise guests join King Frederik and Queen Mary in Greenland

King Frederik and Queen Mary set out this weekend on their first trip to Greenland since the accession in January this year. And while the couple have now been joined by two special guests.

The King and Queen’s two younger children, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, joined their parents on Sunday on a boat trip to Qeqertarsuaq. The family visited a new Arctic sound station that will be studying the behaviours of sea mammals in Disko Bay.

While they were visiting the station, they were able to learn more about a new whale microphone which will help scientists to learn more about whale communication.

The family had a busy day in Qeqertarsuaq, as they also attended a family fun day. The whole family took part in a football match before Frederik kicked off a family fun run. Like they have for his other runs, Vincent and Josephine took part in the run.

The 13 year old twins are The King and Queen’s younger children; Crown Princess Christian, 18, and Princess Isabella, 17, complete the family.

King Frederik and Queen Mary will be travelling across Greenland for a week and will be wrapping up their visit on Saturday, 6 July.
