Queen Margrethe sends warm spring greetings

Queen Margrethe has sent a spring greeting as she continues her winter holiday at the Jagtejendommen nature reserve in Trend.

The Royal House posted a series of photographs of the Danish queen with her dachshund Tillia in the Vesthimmerland coniferous forest with the following message:

“The first signs of spring have begun to appear in the forest floor, on shrubs and trees and in small and large gardens around the country. Danish nature is something very special, and we should all be happy about that. In the past year, nature has been a free space for many of us, and we have experienced Denmark in a new way. In the time to come, we must continue to live with restrictions, but in more than one sense, we are facing brighter times.

“Here from Trend, I send the warmest spring greetings to everyone.

“Margrethe R.”

Queen Margrethe has kept a low profile this winter after revealing in January that she’d received her coronavirus vaccination. Last week, she shared a special message to her Norwegian counterpart, King Harald, on his 30 years on the throne.

In the video message, Queen Margrethe said: “On the occasion of King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 30th anniversary of the government, I would like to congratulate them with all my heart. Harald and Sonja, you represent your country.

“No, you are your country. It makes me happy every time I see it. It is a pleasure every time we are together, and I see how wonderfully you perform your tasks. I look forward to the respect you enjoy in Norway and far beyond Norway’s borders.”

Queen Margrethe will celebrate her golden jubilee next year, marking 50 years on the Danish throne – the first queen to do so in her own right. The Queen succeeded her father on 14 January 1972.
