Princess Benedikte praises Queen Margarethe in new interview

The news that has marked and will mark the royal year 2022 in Denmark is that Margrethe II has bene Queen for 50 years. In an interview with the Danish magazine “Billed-Bladet”, Princess Benedikte of Denmark tells how much she admires the way her older sister has managed the role of Queen. It has always been important for Princess Benedikte to support her older sister.

Over the years, the Queen has always been able to count on the support of her two sisters, Princess Benedikte and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece who praise their older sister.

In the interview, Princess Benedikte says: “It has been a fantastic journey, and my sister, Queen Anne-Marie, and I are full of admiration for the way she has done it. We have supported her, it is quite clear”.

The Princess continues: “The Queen takes her deed seriously, so must she. In addition, she does it with a warmth and wisdom and in a really good way. She keeps up with the times and holds back a bit. It just has to go both ways. Because of course, you have to keep up with the times, but it does not have to shoot off like a rocket. You have to keep the ground connection, I think that is important”.

Princess Benedikte is the middle daughter of King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark. Through her marriage, Benedikte is also a German Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. Since the princess became a widow, she has lived in Denmark for periods and is an active working member of the Danish royal family. She has a very good relationship with both her sisters and both the Danish and German side of her family.
