The heir to the Danish throne turns 16 today, and to celebrate the teen’s birthday, let’s take a look back at Prince Christian’s life this past year!

On 15 May of this year, Prince Christian was confirmed in the Royal Chapel of Fredensborg Palace. Due to the ongoing pandemic, only Prince Christian’s immediate family attended the service.
But before that, he joined his grandmother, Queen Margrethe, for a church service at Asminderød Church near Fredensborg for confirmation preparation.
Family Fun
Prince Christian joined the rest of his family for a Christmas video on the Danish Royal Family’s Instagram account, sharing a look inside their home at Frederik VIII’s Palace.
And at Easter, the Crown Prince Family shared a snap with Queen Margrethe at Marseilisborg Palace.
Go Denmark! Prince Christian, his father, and cousins Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix cheered on Denmark ahead of the Euro 2020 match against Belgium on 17 June.

On 7 July, Prince Christian and his parents flew to London to watch Denmark play England in the semi-finals.
School Days
In June, the Crown Prince Couple announced that Prince Christian would attend Herlufsholm Gymnasium in Næstved from this fall.
On 10 September, Prince Christian officially moved into the residence at Herlufsholm Gymnasium. He began his first semester the next day. The Danish Royal Family shared new portraits to mark the occasion.
Official Engagements
Prince Christian joined his father, Crown Prince Frederik, and grandmother for an official event at St Mary’s Cathedral in Hadersleben to welcome the German President Steinmeier, who was visiting for two days on 13 June.
They also attended an event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Reunification with South Jutland.
