Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik comments on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark has spoken for the first time about the situation in Ukraine. His comments came on Sunday evening during what should have been a merry affair. The Crown Prince was on the guest list for the premiere of the Netflix film ‘Against The Ice’ at Dagmar Cinema in Copenhagen.

After arriving at the venue, His Royal Highness was preparing to settle down to watch the movie which tells the story of two Greenlanders. Crown Prince Frederik was received by the film’s lead actor, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and the film’s director, Peter Flinth. When the Crown Prince went down to the press area, the tone became markedly serious.

His Royal Highness wanted to give a few words on the current situation in Ukraine and revealed that it affects both him and his family. The Crown Prince said: “Of course, it worries the Western world enormously. It also worries my family and I, and we follow the development, and our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people”.

The Crown Prince then continued into the hall, where he enjoyed the film which will be available on Netflix from 2 March.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has affected the most European royal families. The Norwegian royal family has returned to their country after having interrupted their holiday and the Swedish royal family is in continuous meetings with its government and defence leaders.
