Crown Princess Mary to lead business delegation to Norway

The stage is set for a meeting between Danish and Norwegian royals in June, after it was recently announced that Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will travel to Norway for a one day visit to lead a Danish business delegation with a focus on sustainable urban development and the health care of the future.

A delegation of Danish companies and organizations will accompany the Danish Crown Princess on the visit on June 10th 2022. According to the Danish Royal court, the purpose of the business promotion is to strengthen the close trade and cultural relations between Denmark and Norway and support the growth and position of Danish companies in the Norwegian market.

According to the announcement, Crown Princess Mary will also participate in the official opening of the new National Museum in Oslo. The museum, which will be the Nordic region’s largest art museum, will house more than 5,000 exhibited works from the museum’s collection of older and modern art, architecture, design and crafts.

It is expected that several members of the Norwegian royal family will greet her during the royal visit. It’s already been announced that Queen Sonja of Norway will officially open the new museum.

The Danish and Norwegian royals have long traditions when it comes to collaborating and also when it comes to art. This is by no means the first time a member of the Danish royal family will be present at a opening of a major museum in Norway.

In 2019, Queen Sonja opened the new museum building “The Twist” outside Oslo with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark also present during the opening. Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Frederik got a tour with investor Christen Sveaas of the new building which is located at the Kistefos Museum. The reason why also Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was present was that the architect behind the unique building was the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels.
