Crown Princess Mary has double duty on Monday

Crown Princess Mary visited Aarhus on 17 June where she was scheduled to attend two events. Both of these events were supposed to happen back in January 2019, but Crown Princess Mary had to cancel her attendance since the plane due to take her to Aarhus couldn’t take off from Copenhagen. Back then, the events went ahead without the Crown Princess, but the Court had announced she would visit both associations at a later date.

Her first stop was the Aarhus University Hospital’s new psychiatry building. The psychiatry centre was moved from Risskov to Skejby. Crown Princess Mary is the Patron of the Psychiatry Foundation, and during her visit, she had the opportunity to talk with the staff and patients of the Department of Depression and Anxiety. She also met patients in the Children’s and Youth Psychiatric Department. The new building has 257 rooms.

Afterwards, Crown Princess Mary visited the TrygFondens Family House at the Regional Hospital Hammel Neurocenter. TrygFondens Family House is available for parents and siblings for the admitted children at Hammel Neurocenter. When a child is admitted to the hospital, the family can stay in the Family House during the child’s hospitalisation. Crown Princess Mary toured the building and met with some of the volunteers working at the house, and she also met with one family currently staying at the home. The house also aims to help the families in keeping a normal private life, often for the sake of the siblings of the child hospitalised. It also allows the families staying at the house to share their experiences and spend time together.

This was Crown Princess Mary’s third visit to the family house. She first visited the house during the official opening in 2012, and she revisited them in 2017 during the inauguration of the new building extension.
