Crown Prince Frederik attends anniversary at centre bearing his name

This week marks three years since Crown Prince Frederik’s Centre for Public Leadership was opened at Aarhus University. The Danish Crown Prince attended a conference at the centre that bears his name to celebrate the occasion.

The conference was about the challenges one will face in the municipal management sector in the future. Researchers and prominent professionals from the international community attended the anniversary conference. Crown Prince Frederik opened the conference.

During his welcome speech, His Royal Highness said: “Creating results together in these communities requires leadership. It means something to have good leaders. Good leadership in the Armed Forces is important. In addition, the same goes for daycare centres, hospitals and retail businesses. All organisations deserve good leadership».

In the last two years, the annual conference has been held digitally due to the pandemic, but this year no less than 550 participants were present during the meeting. The Crown Prince spoke on several topics during his speech, including the problematic situation in Ukraine.

Regarding Ukraine, the Crown Prince said: “But one, in particular, has made an impression on me this year. I am thinking of a political leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyj, President of Ukraine. His speech on the anniversary of Denmark’s liberation was strong. He spoke of the dream of freedom and peace. He stressed that it is right now in Ukraine that the future of Europe is being decided. In the speech – but also by his personal example – he sets the direction for Ukraine’s defence struggle.”

Crown Prince Frederik is a board member of the centre and is closely involved in the day-to-day operations and administration. After the conference, the Crown Prince attended a board meeting at the centre before returning to Copenhagen.

Crown Prince Frederik’s Centre for Public Management is an international centre that conducts social research in the areas of management and political science. It is not without reason that the centre is located at Aarhus University; it was at this university that the Crown Prince completed his studies in 1995.
