Queen Paola ordered to rest after breaking bone in fall

Queen Paola of Belgium has broken her arm after a fall.

The 84-year-old queen, mother of the current King, Philippe, broke her arm in a fall. The queen has been told to rest and recuperate for eight weeks. Therefore, all her engagements in the immediate future have been postponed.

This is not the first time Queen Paola has broken a bone. In December 2016, she was treated in hospital a vertebral fracture. In February 2017, she suffered from a fractured femoral neck.

Following the confirmation that Queen Paola had broken a bone, she received a wave of public messages from prominent Belgians and politicians, wishing her well and hoping for a speedy recovery.
